I am a Professional Counsellor and Psychotherapist, fully accredited with the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists Ireland (APCP). I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Psychology, a 3-year specialised Degree in Youth Counselling, and a BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also have specialised training and experience in CBT, Adolescent Counselling, Family Systems, Bereavement and Addiction.
As a young teen I experienced the death of a close family member, and I struggled to cope with feelings of grief and bereavement, as well as the impact on other areas of my life. Later in life, I found myself determined to learn and discover as much as possible about how I could help people going through difficult times in life. This began my journey into psychology, counselling and mental health support.
Working with young people is a particularly specialised area for me. It is also an area that is very under-resourced when it comes to mental health. Thousands of young people across the country are being left on long waiting-lists for an appointment with a professional therapist or psychologist. Mental-health issues are on the rise, and the existing services available do not seem to be able to meet the demand. The current problems in this sector inspired me to develop an accessible and affordable platform for individuals, families and young people, who seek professional help and support.
